Fri-YAY (on a Monday)!

As George R.R. Martin wrote in the Game of Thrones books, the night is dark and full of terrors, the day bright and beautiful and full of hope. In this space I plan to mention something that makes me smile: an organization, a story I found, a cute picture, really anything that brightens up my day and I hope might brighten up your day too.

Technically, yes, it is Monday, but I think we can all agree we can use some levity any day of the week these days. Today, I want to mention my favorite Instagram follow (@sheldricktrust), an account and organization that never fails to make me smile: the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust. David and Daphne Sheldrick established the trust in 1977 with the goal of protecting Kenya’s wildlife, primarily elephants. They rescue orphaned baby elephants (and other animals, like rhinos and giraffes) and raise them until they are ready to integrate back out into the wild. They also support anti-poaching efforts and administer veterinary treatment to wild animals in Kenya.

The baby elephants are unspeakably adorable. I triple-dog-dare you to watch some of their videos and not feel a little bit better about the world.
